Introduction

Indigena ArchStudio is an architecture studio born from the ambition to reinvent tradition in Madeira Island, Portugal. While embracing new technologies and a variety of architectural styles, the brand stands out for its use of native materials, especially local wood. The name "Indigena" reflects its essence — a tribute to the roots and uniqueness of Madeira itself.

Challenge

We began the project with the challenge of crafting a visual identity that not only aligned with the brand’s essence but also communicated its commitment to cultural heritage and sustainability, while reflecting the sophistication and modernity present in its architectural work.

Solution

By understanding the brand's core values, we sought to merge the concepts of artificial and organic at its core. We designed a typographic logo in which every detail was meticulously crafted, custom and exclusive. By combining a humanist sans serif style with geometric elements, we achieved a result that is modern, technical, and structured. The blend of Indigena’s architectural style and the cultural expression of the island is seen in the wood textures and institutional colors. The black and white palette, along with the “Mahogany” brown, pays homage to Madeira Island and its lush forests, capturing its essence and tradition.
